Overview

Lake Lashaway sits in the middle of East Brookfield, just north of Route 9. Formed by impounding the East Brookfield River, it covers 285 acres, averages 12 feet deep (24 max) and has brownish water. Year-round homes and cottages take up about 90% of the shore.

Fishing

This is a solid all-around warmwater lake. Largemouth and pickerel are both plentiful, and many are good-sized. Panfish are everywhere, and MassWildlife surveys turned up plenty of good-sized bullhead and both kinds of perch. Award fish include largemouth and smallmouth bass; chain pickerel; and black crappie, yellow and white perch, and sunfish.

MassWildlife surveys found largemouth and smallmouth bass; chain pickerel; panfish such as black crappie, bluegill, pumpkinseed, white perch and yellow perch; brown bullhead and yellow bullhead; and golden shiner and white sucker.

Access

North Brookfield manages a concrete trailer ramp off Shore Road at the north end, with room for about 6 cars and trailers. You can fish from shore near the ramp and along Route 9. Contact the town of North Brookfield about fees and rules.

Ice fishing

With so many pickerel, it's a good bet once the ice is safe (MassWildlife).
