Overview

Long Pond is a 52-acre impoundment in northeastern Ayer. Its south shore is partly developed, and the rest is forested. A shallower basin to the north in Groton, surrounded by conservation land, may connect at high water.

Fishing

The dock is probably best for sunfish, since the water within casting distance is shallow. A boat reaches deeper water to the east and likely larger fish. MassWildlife says little is known about fishing here.

Species

Species found in MassWildlife surveys: largemouth bass, chain pickerel, yellow perch, brown and yellow bullhead, bluegill, golden shiner.

Regulations

MassWildlife freshwater fishing regulations apply: https://www.mass.gov/freshwater-fishing-regulations. Confirm current seasons, limits and any special rules there; this page is not a legal source.

Licensing

Anglers 15 and older need a Massachusetts fishing license (MassWildlife).

Access

The Pond View Association maintains a fishing dock, an unimproved dirt cartop launch to the right of the dock, and a paved 10-car parking area off Orchid Lane. Shore fishing is limited to the dock and launch.

Water facts

52 acres.
