Overview

Spectacle Pond, on the Littleton-Ayer line, is about 78 acres, named for its eyeglass shape. Bennett's Brook and an unnamed brook feed its southwest wetland, and it drains from the east end through Gilson Brook to Forge Pond.

Fishing

The pond association lists fishing among the pond's uses, along with boating, paddling, swimming and ice skating. Herbicide treatments for invasive fanwort are done in spring, and fishing, swimming and boating are briefly restricted after each treatment.

Regulations

MassWildlife freshwater fishing regulations apply: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/freshwater-fishing-regulations. Confirm current seasons, limits and any special rules there; this page is not a legal source.

Licensing

Anglers 15 and older need a Massachusetts fishing license (MassWildlife).

Access

A gravel public boat launch and parking area sits across from 687 Great Road, Littleton (spectaclepond.org lists 688 Great Road, Ayer), used by boaters and kayakers. The Littleton Water Department plans to rebuild the launch to control erosion (construction expected late 2026 to early 2027), so check before you go.
