Overview

Fort Pond is a 79-acre great pond off Route 70 in Lancaster. MassWildlife stocks it with trout each spring and fall.

Fishing

Fort Pond keeps a layer of cold, oxygenated water through summer, so trout can survive multiple seasons. A few 2+ pound trout are taken each year, but most are stocked that year. Largemouth bass of 8-12 inches are very numerous, with an occasional larger fish, and yellow perch over a pound have been reported. The pond has produced award-size largemouth bass, yellow perch, and brook, brown, rainbow and tiger trout.

Species

Species found in MassWildlife surveys: largemouth bass, chain pickerel, yellow perch, black crappie, bluegill, pumpkinseed, yellow bullhead, American eel.
