Overview

South Meadow Pond is a 37-acre great pond about a mile southwest of Clinton center. It joins Mossy Pond, with the submerged remains of a dam under the powerlines marking the boundary. It connects to Coachlace Pond by a culvert that boats can't pass.

Fishing

MassWildlife stocks South Meadow and Mossy Ponds with trout each spring, making them popular spring trout spots, and they have excellent largemouth bass and chain pickerel fishing year-round. Downed trees and weed beds provide plenty of cover. The ponds have produced award-size largemouth bass, chain pickerel, white perch, black crappie, brook trout and rainbow trout.

Species found in MassWildlife surveys: largemouth bass, chain pickerel, yellow perch, white perch, black crappie, bluegill, pumpkinseed, rock bass, brown bullhead, yellow bullhead, golden shiner.
