Overview

Damming the Copicut River created 621-acre Copicut Reservoir in eastern Fall River. Together with North Watuppa Pond it supplies the city's drinking water, so recreation is tightly restricted.

Fishing

Bring artificial lures and walking shoes. Sunfish from Copicut have reached award size in the Freshwater Sportfishing Awards Program.

Species

MassWildlife surveys turned up four species: two predators, chain pickerel and largemouth bass, plus yellow perch and brown bullhead.

Regulations

MassWildlife freshwater regulations apply: https://www.mass.gov/freshwater-fishing-regulations. Check local town or DCR rules for access fees and restrictions.

Licensing

A Massachusetts freshwater fishing license is required for anglers 15 and older.

Access

This is shore fishing only, with no boats and no live bait. Two small lots on Copicut Rd. (west shore) connect to hiking trails down to the water. Contact the City of Fall River about rules and fees.
