Overview
Lake Lanier is a large reservoir on the Chattahoochee River in north Georgia, best known for spotted bass and striped bass.
Fishing
Georgia DNR lists spotted bass, striped bass, largemouth bass, black crappie and walleye. Stripers make spawning runs up the Chattahoochee River in spring. Spotted bass use rocky shorelines in spring and move to open water chasing blueback herring and shad from summer through fall. Largemouth are a good option in the upper lake, around downed trees in coves.
Access
Don Carter State Park sits on the lake with paddling trails, kayak rentals and shore access.
