Overview

Sabino Creek runs through Sabino Canyon in the Santa Catalina Mountains and Coronado National Forest, just north of Tucson. It's one of the area's most popular outdoor spots. Waterfalls and pools lie minutes from the desert floor, crossed by bridges built during the Great Depression by the WPA and ERA, along with Sabino Dam. Since 1978, cars have been restricted in the upper canyon, so visitors reach it on foot, by bike or on a shuttle (Wikipedia).

Access

The canyon is in the Coronado National Forest. Private cars are restricted beyond the visitor area, so reach the upper canyon on foot, by bike, or on the Sabino Canyon shuttle (Wikipedia). Check current shuttle service before you go.

Activities

Hiking, walking and riding the canyon road, and wildlife viewing (deer, javelina, owls and more).
