Overview
Lake Guntersville is Alabama's largest lake, about 69,100 acres, stretching 75 miles from Nickajack Dam to Guntersville Dam on the Tennessee River. TVA completed Guntersville Dam in 1939.
Fishing
TVA reports crappie as the number one sport fish, usually over half of the total catch, with bass and bluegill also caught in large numbers. Below the dam, sauger fishing is good in fall and winter, white bass in early spring and catfish in summer.
